Increase of hopeful scam artists

Ten years ago the scams were completely different on this site. They were at least perpetuated by American citizens who had the intentions of writing a college thesis on their interactions here and possibly sidebar on monetary gains. The days of merely having the satisfaction of being Alpha has shifted it seems.

 There were those who had to be the bell of the ball, no matter how it effected the feelings of others. The correlation is the difference in how the types approach conversations. The scammers are quick to pull the target away from areas like chat rooms to try and take advantage of emotions in an effort to achieve the goal of getting money. Case in point I just had one last week that tried to play the sob story of putting money on an amazon card to buy groceries, they were going to get their check in a couple of days. This all after talking on IM twice, texting twice(trust me, i route my phone calls), and speaking on the phone once.
I'm just saying it pays to be patient and observe.
