Sadness A Poem

Sadness

When the sadness hits
When my stomach
Feels it's grip.
A punch and pinch
And tightening.
What am I to do?
Except roll with it?

Should I let it be
All encompassing?
Should I fight it's mastery?
For surely it has
ability
To make me
It's slave.

Or should I welcome it
Like a guest
Who is the opposite?
Unwelcomed but a pest
A necessary visitor
Who you must let enter
As befitting of your
Good manners?

Then when they are done
They take their leave.
Are you lessened?
Are you wiser?
Are you going
To win awards
For your hospitality?
Oh sadness, you traveler
Wherever you go
You are begrudged.
Don't you tire
Of your nature?

Gather no moss
Be not an albatross
Go on, go on
Your rainbow
And your pot of gold
Are to be sought.

A landscape
awaits sadness
Should it just be
Like it's namesake?
A desolate and barren place?
Would sadness feel
At home at long last?
Would it want to stay?

Sadness is not just
A singular sensation.
It has many offspring
And siblings.
The of sadness
Life's burdens
Would they are
Counterbalanced
By happiness.
The Chinese had their number
The ubiquitous yin and yang.

 I don't have time for sadness- regrets yes but not sadness- I celebrate life everyday- I made myself a promise when I was 13- stop and smell the roses as often as possible- I did that and still do- if you take a look at how the government and advertiser agency's try and manipulate people-- they do a good job at pushing the correct buttons that control human emotions- grab life by he horns

I see your philosophy. I raise the stakes so to speak. Higher should be my mood on a scale of oh woe is me. Grabbing life by the horns, oh I know that expression as it is ingrained along with Carpe Diem. But you see I just might have sadness in my DNA...the Scottish trait of melancholy. LOL Or the depression and guilt of a Catholic or the fact that I have learned helplessness when confronted by disappointment. But you have made me look at the term and subject and for that I am grateful for the study on a philosophical level. Thank you for reading and commenting.
