Hopes And Dreams Wants And Needs A Poem

Dare I not hope?
Dare I not dream?
Dare I not let time
And my actions
Make such things?

They try
How they try
To keep me here
And awake.
But sleep is the place
They get full reign.

The day dawns
And there is resistance
To my wants and needs.
For I am not the only one
Who is seeking
Such things.

There is competition
Although I am not sure
My particular combination
Is other's preferences.
Therein lies the key.
I have a niche
That I seek
And I shall
For as long as I live
And breathe.
Or until I find myself
At the mercy
Of depression
And malaise.
Heaven forbid
I fall into such a state!
