darkness

It was a productive day. It started with all you can eat fish and chips with clam chowder at Sizzler. We ate a little more than all we could eat. There's a certain something about being uncomfortably stuffed that is comfortable. Especially after a long forced fast.

This was followed by shopping at a variety of different stores. For the record, being stuffed to the gills really isn't a deterrent to impulse shopping. Just so you know.

After that came digesting, out in the back yard, in the sunshine, while the puppies played on the lawn. That was pretty nice.

Then came movies and pizza, also quite nice.

Despite alla that, there were moments of darkness, and I suspect that many people encounter those during their day to day lives. My worst came when passing by a display of Halloween costumes at one of the stores. Instant burst into tears for me. There are many such emotional landmines in my life these days. A thingy of applesauce, a commercial for toys, a getting off the school bus. The storm that may or may not hit New Orleans has me in a dither...

My is in New Orleans, with her mom, and I'm not allowed to communicate with my through no fault of my own. No, actually, it is my fault... I married a less than stellar person *sighs*

The moments of darkness are hard, huh? We all have them. Other peoples may seem trivial when we compare them to our own, but darkness is darkness no matter how you cut it.

I've yet to find a decent way to cope with it. Just... tough it out. Not a very enjoyable solution but it's the best I've got. Music helps. Atom Heart Mother right now. Funky Dung is groovy. It reminds me of the barn and the cows.

Cows are cool. Like bow ties. Old, but groovy nonetheless. I like watching cows. There's a serenity about them. It's not from being stupid because chickens are stupid and there's nothing very serene about chickens, full of nervous energy they are.

Yes, I know, I sometimes type like Yoda. I'd say he got it from me but that wouldn't be true. I got it from other, much cooler cats, lifetimes ago. Not sure who anymore... lost in time.

Now the day is ending, and I'm off to bed... alone. Can't say that I'm too wild about that. Not that I want someone there every night, no. But once in a while would be nice.

Oh well.

As always,
it's good to be Free

There are four puppies, one really is a puppy, the oldest is sixteen years old and her owners are debating putting her to sleep. Her quality of life has really deteriorated a lot just this past month, poor dear. Currently we pamper the hell out of her. The other two are in between. One is just over a year or so, the other is around eight. They are all puppies to me though. Oddly enough, I'm a cat person... but these four are just darling and I love them all. It's fun watching the two youngest ones play in the back yard... very... therapeutic.
