"As of 18 September 2021, 12pm, the Ministry of Health has detected a total of 1,009 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore, with 926 in the community, 78 in the migrant worker dormitories and 5 imported cases." "5. As of 17 September 2021, 82% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 84% has received at least one dose." The full details: https://www.moh.gov.sg/news-highlights/details/update-on-local-covid-19-situation-(18-sep-2021) There are times where I get the feeling that the government rules the country as if it were a corporation. If you really want to be cynical, you could say that the government would rather get rid of anyone who costs money than make money of. Even if the entire country has been vaccinated, the virus has not gone away. You can still get sick, infect others without experiencing any symptoms yourself. The vaccine loses its effectiveness over the months, after how many months differs per manufacturer. Do you have to go for a third shot (second shot Janssen vaccine), a fourth, a fifth? Where does it end? And - importantly - what will be the long-term effects on your health? Nobody knows. As long as this is not unequivocally clear, look before you leap. As long as most foreign visitors are quarantined for 7/14 days on arrival in SG, most will stay away. That's not what you come for. Need a way to message all members? Ms. Elizabella, What a lot of people do not understand is the vaccines were developed for the original strain of COVID-19. The virus is rapidly mutating so the the vaccine is less and less effective. COVID is not ever going to end, all we can do is learn to life with the restrictions on slowing the virus. and stay as safe as possible.

We recently had one of the highest infection rates in Europe, possibly triggered by the return of schools after the summer and the return of spectators to sporting events. Thankfully that rate is now dropping but there are still over 1000 people in hospital and goodness knows how many people unknowingly infected, or infected but the symptoms are not enough to warrant medical assistance. So far the NHS seems to be coping. Just. But at the expense of other services being pushed back, doctors reluctant to do face-to-face meetings, etc. We're coping and things are near normal as they are ever going to get. We just have to live with that and get on with things as best we can.
