Words Are My Sword...

I sent an CityHookups.com email last night... and when I went to pay my penance for not being a VIP member - that is, unchecking the return receipt box, I noticed that the box was already unchecked.

Then, this morning, I was alerted to the Site Support Blog, which had a posting that announced that CityHookups.com has decided to reinstate a bit of sanity to their flawed site design, and set the default state of the read receipt check box to 'unchecked'.

We won.

Praise the Lord!

I won't tell you that it was me - I just posted some blogs about it... but I helped to get the word out, as did so many others of you... and you should all be proud. I am proud*.

Thanks to everyone. Thanks to people who never read blogs but read mine, and other peoples, and went to the site support blog and complained. Thanks to people who kept complaining. Your persistence made a difference.

Of course, one could take the cynical interpretation that this was CityHookups.com's plan all along... leave it this way for a month or so and bleed off the points. It pisses me off that we had to protest in the first place.

But we won.

Just a suggestion - go to the Site Support Blog and thank them for the change. A little positive reinforcement can't hurt.

*Pride is a sin, but so is most of the other things you do on this site, so, yeah, I am proud... among other things.
