More on AFF Points...
More on AFF Points... I wrote a blog earlier today about CityHookups.com points, and the change in policy that now automatically deducts CityHookupscom points when you send an email unless you specifically request that they don't. Lets be honest. Almost none of us use those points. But they do have real value. CityHookups.com points are a bit like Frequent Flier miles. They are incentives that CityHookups.com offers customers to use their system and to develop some customer loyalty. How does that work? Well, for example, let's look at blogs. When you start a blog, each time you create a blog posting you receive 30 points, to a maximum of 300 points total. So in essence, you receive $.30 for each of your first ten blog postings in your blog. When you comment on other people's blogs, you receive 10 points, to a maximum of 300 points. So ten blog posts and thirty comments is worth $6. The reason that CityHookups.com would do this is to get new users into the idea of blogging, and encourage people to start and use the blogs. You also get 100 points for a photo on your profile (500 maximum). You get points for video intros, referrals... lots of things. From CityHookups.com's perspective, points are liabilities on their books. They are as if they accepted money from customers in advance for services that you might choose later. If I decide to redeem 4000 points for my gold membership, that's $30 in REAL money they don't get one month. So it is in CityHookups.com's best interest to reduce the number of points out there - and they are doing it by causing members points to bleed away by setting a default that costs members 100 points every time they send an email. This is really bad business. Suppose every time you logged into an airline website, they charged you 100 miles for your visit, unless you went to some web page and told them you didn't want to be charged 100 miles? It is the same thing. Read my post. Go complain! |

I want to know why something that costs you, points or cash, is default. And unchecking that box doesn't help, by the way. Peace and love is where it's at.

Please go complain! It may seem like a small thing, but it really isn't. We earned those points, and this is a dishonest attempt to disposses us! Thanks for visiting!

I have lodged a complaint and posted in all my groups and on my blog. The management have backed down before and I hope they are forced to re-think this change in policy. What really incenses me is that CityHookups.com don't even have the decency to email the members advising of this change and we have to find out through a site support blog post and posts from the members.

I got my membership with a gift card so I wouldn't have to use a regular credit card it worked just fine. Until the gift card ran out. Now no matter what credit card I try to use I cannot add points to my membership. Does anybody know a solution to this. Other than calling my bank because I've also tried that. Thanks
