Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins represent vices and tendencies that were believed to be misdeeds in early Christian religion.

These include:

Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Sloth is the act of being lazy or idle.

I find myself guilty of LUST. It is difficult to have self control when my mind is always fixated on carnal desires of the flesh. It makes having self-control very difficult.

Curious minds want to know: which Sin(s) are you guilty of? Was there a time when giving into a sin resulted in a consequence?

I'll take one of each if you please, and a Morgan and Coke, with ice. First, a house salad with bleu cheese dressing, and fresh bread. A double serving of lust for my lady, if you will. She will like a sweet red wine.

I am guilty of all of them, but greed destroyed me and took everything including my freedom

Probably lust... but I don't think it's an inordinate craving.

Pride – some that know me, but not well, might accuse me of this, but it is not the case – I REALLY am that good!

Envy – maybe occasionally, but not really.

Gluttony – WELLLLL, see the next one.

Lust – truly the biggie for me.

Anger – this used to be a biggie for me, but I'm hugely better than I used to be.

Greed – not at all, but I do appreciate the finer things in life!

Sloth – DEFINITELY NOT!

I'll confess to four out of seven. I've got no use for envy -- what belongs to others is theirs, and I have no claim on it - or greed -- avarice for the sake of avarice is really, really unproductive. I'll occasionally be angry, but not excessively so.

But...

Food is a sensual pleasure on many levels, and I'll freely confess to gluttony. Sloth? Occasionally, but I'm in a deadline-driven profession. That said, I'm also in a profession known for procrastination!

Let's see... that leaves two. Pride... well, not excessive hubris, which is what I think the original sin (note: That's not "The Original Sin") was supposed to denote. Healthy sense of self-being and confidence in my abilities? Sure. Walk with a big-balled swagger? Not so much.

As for Lust... Of course! Why not?

Now here's a question... some of these so-called sins don't hurt anyone else. Are they really sins at all?

I'm guilty of LUST as well. Truth be told, most on this site are guilty like us.
